I had mine out the other day on a small lake in VT. GPS recorded 15 mph on several occasions. And I was backing off early, air temp was 52 F, water 57 F and I was wearing shorts and a tshirt. I bet you could get to 16 or 17 easy, 20 is probably outside the possible.

keep in mind you will go faster in cold or cool air than in hot air. speed is relative, yes faster than a laser but slow compared to a H16. totally agree about raking aft in high winds...you won't finish the course if u pp

Regarding speed, the following link shows a day on the water near Ponce De Leon inlet florida. The winds were between 10 - 15 kts. E shifting to SE over the course of the day.

The individual segments show that we were hitting speeds averaging 4 min / mile.

Two days ago I was on a two-day trip with my wave. With two people onboard plus luggage (total 160 kg) gps recorded 11.9 knots.
