I have a new Wave and will trailering the mast assembled. The 'Bob' mast float will be hanging over the stern of the boat. For longer trailing distances (6 hours) is it advisable to remove the 'Bob' float from the mast?

thanx,
Bill

Well, the experts aren't responding much so you'll get my opinion...

Don't think it will be a prob, assuming you are using a mast support up front.

The Bob will add to the bounce though. I like the single mast cradle and it is convenient. Usually trailer with mast apart, with the upper part with Bob bungeed to the lower mast section that is in the cradle.

I am a lazy fool who doesn't like to have to think, so if on a long trip when I wouldn't want to have to worry about bouncing Bob, I would probably remove it since it's just screws. Long trip = > 150 miles.

I tow with Mama Bob on mast. I tow with the Bob at the stern which makes it easier to step (shrouds attached) and also doesnt bounce the bob too much since leverage is reduced as it is only 3-4 feet back from the crossbar

You should take the mast apart and tie the two pieces down onto the boat. Too much stress in the midsection of those because they are so short and it only takes a second to pull it apart.

I would leave it on. Make sure you use some loctite on the screws that hold the bob on.
