As I continue my search for a club Wave with aluminum rudder heads ... I come across boats that need some repairs. Mostly grinding through the skeg from dragging it. I've watched the videos of repairing kayaks with hot air plastic welding. Can you do that with a Wave? If so what material: PVC = Poly Vinyl Chloride plastic rods, PC PP = Polypropylene rods, PC ABS = Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene rods. Doesn't look too hard in the videos. Anybody know? |

You can weld polyethylene, but the Wave is "Cross Linked" polyethylene which can not be welded. It's more impact resistant and a better surface shine. The bravo is Linear which can be welded. |

Interesting information! I too have a Bravo. It is currently in good shape and does not require repairs... But it is great to understand that repairs are possible! Where do you purchase these plastic welders? |

Do only Canadians want to repair these things? I bought mine on ebay, not very expensive. They have the rod there too. There's a video of a guy repairing a kayak on Youtube. Looks fairly easy when he does it. |
