[size=85]NEWS RELEASE:

CELEBRATE THE WIND AT THE FIFTH ANNUAL 2011 LAKE POINSETT SAILING REGATTA

Take on a real sailing challenge and join us as we celebrate the joy of a sailboat race at Lake Poinsett, Saturday, June 18th.

The estimated seven-mile course will start and end near Race Center, Arlington Beach Resort. All racers, friends, family, enemies, anybody... are welcome to the after-race celebration at the Boathouse at Arlington Beach.

At Race Center, we will start at 11:00 AM with sailing registration, a Sailing Seminar, and a Round-table Discussion, bringing beginning sailors and old salts to review the basics in sailing, along with the rules of sailboat racing, and an open discussion about chartering etc.

Registration will continue until 1:00.
At 1:30 the starting gun will go off.

Again this year we will handicap classes to level the playing field/water. A traveling trophy will be given to the winning boat, and various celebratory awards are given to various attendees. Certainly all participating in this ancient art of sailing, and celebrating the harnessing of the wind will be winners.

Organizers for this adventure are a local group of men who call themselves the Lake Poinsett Sailing Academy (LPSA). These characters come together weekly to sail, eat, and discuss politics and other controversial topics. Aside from organizing a yearly Regatta, this group has organized a museum crawl, sailing trips to various larger bodies of water, the latest being the Apostle Islands on Lake Superior/Wisconsin.

Please come join our celebration of the Fifth Annual Poinsett Sailing Regatta. If you think you are up to the challenge, and you think you might have the intellect, or the sense of adventure, and/or maybe just a little luck, then join the race.

For more details please contact: Rick Holm 724 5th St, Brookings, SD.
