Post subject:  Batten Tension
I have installed some ribbon on each batten to analyse the flow. I find that the third batten down tails off to looard often when the other ones are flowing. Can this be contolled by tensioning the batten more?

Should batten tension increase or decrease as wind strength increase?

Battens are sometimes tensioned more as the wind increases.

The panel at the Hobie logo is a good location for "leech" tell tails. If you sheet too hard the tell tail will wrap to the lee side. Not sheeting hard enough and the tell tail flows straight aft. The right sheet tension typically causes the tell tails to flow aft then wrap to lee and repeat... alternating.

that I have skimmed but not picked through about fat head sails.

I suspect the third batten down is the "borderline" between the lower part and the square top and that the upper part in higher wind rolls off beginning at the border. But that's just a guess. :)

Pretty confident that ways to keep a good sail shape in various wind conditions can be had without adding a lot of extra controls.
