I sail my Wave in the relatively flat waters of Shinnecock Bay (Tiana to be exact) right behind the ocean dunes around Hampton Bays, NY. This is my second season with my Wave. I currently have my mast set to the third eyehole in front. In a 20mph wind a couple of weeks ago (sunny and warm heaven) and I couldn't get my windward hull out of the water as the leeward bow would bury itself, sometimes to the point of a virtual stop. The water was a little choppy but nothing over a foot unless it was a motorboat wake (booo!) What can be done to prevent this? Do I rake the mast back towards the stern more? Or more forward? I've searched the forums, but any advice is much appreciated. Anthony |

If you have a club Wave, hole 3 on the forward stay and that puts my aft stays at hole 2. This is for 15 - 20 knot winds just right, but this is also with a jib, perfect trim! Anything over 20 I back the mast off another hole up forward. |

No jib on my wave. I was discouraged from getting because "it buries the bow". So the higher the wind speed, the farther forward the mast should be? |

So, the rule of thumb is forward for high winds and back (towards stern) for lighter winds? I would have thought the opposite. I don't have a jib, I was wondering if people like theirs, or think it's worth the money? |

Aft for higher wind... raked forward?... maybe never, but in lighter winds maybe. Masts raked aft help to keep the bows up and it will point better. |

you know I have been out in 20mph and better wind. But around here in south dakota that is a wild ride. 3-4ft white caped waves with supprise waves that are just waiting to bury the bow so the boat can come to complete rest. or pitch pole which is fun in its self seeing how far one can catapult the passager into the lake. Answer it really Doesn't matter how much I rake the mast back. (which I do) but more on where the distribution of weight is on the boat. The lake is a 3 x 5 mile lake which is mostly round. |
