Post subject:  Comptip Tie Down Method

Hi,

I don't have it with me here at work, but I recall seeing a piece of paper in my Wave kit that discussed risks associated with tying down and tranpsoting the comptip. I believe the essence of the warning was that the plastic construction of the comptip makes it susceptible to damage if tied down the wrong way when preparing for transport.

What is the official recommended method for tying down the comptip end of the mast when trailering? I use a mast stand at the front with my comptip lying across the rear cross bar. The comptip is resting on a perfect, very thick and very big piece of resilient boat foam.

Should I have the luff track facing down, up or to the side. If it facing down, there is some minor pressure from the foam. If it facing up, there is pressure from my tie down straps.

Suggestions??? THANKS!

The issue is the plastic luff track (snapped onto the fiberglass CompTip). Tie down with the track up or to the side. Pad as not to compress the track slot. Constant pressure may cause the slot to get pinched closed.
