Ok Sports Fans, the results are in. HCA Class Chairmen, Pat Porter, said "you have a good cross section of the Wave Fleet and they all make valid points." The information that went into the IHCA Rules Committee today is copied below. It's in their capable hands now. THANK YOU to everyone that helped! Waves ROCK!

Rule 3.3 Proposed Rule Change
1.) Great idea

2.) I am in favor of it. Low cost, gives our IWCA friends one less excuse not to sail HCA. You can add this or not, probably doesn't make much difference, but I am all for closing the gap on the IWCA if Hobie is not going to make a Racing sail.
And this is why; Big Whoop Charles Smith said: “If you think you might race a Wave in the future with a blown out sail and would want to flatten it a bit, or have a sail you think is too flat and needs extra power since you might have put on a few pounds by then, or you want to flatten the sail out to make it more controllable for your daughter, or you want to power it up to sail through the power boat chop from the jet skis,” .... well you get the idea.
Can't fault that logic when the Wave will without doubt be most people secondary boat that gets raced now and again when the kids aren't beating on it all summer long.
3.) Well, we have made that change to our 1996 sail in order to save it, not wanting to buy another inferior sail from Hobie at a custom sail price. Since I've race my wave in both classes of wave across the country, using both hobie and non-hobie sails, I see nothing wrong using a plate to save the sail. Thank you
Mike Powers. FL
4.) Yes, I'm in favor of the clew plate proposal.

Rule 3.3 Proposed Rule Change
1.) No. KISS (keep it simple stupid)

2.) Here is my comment about the Wave sail proposal:
I'm against it. Just few reasons.
One, I don’t like the words "may be added".
It's either we all have it or not. This is how classes start getting divided. Besides, if we want to keep these boats class legal, Hobie Cat factory eventually will have to start making not one, but two kind of sails for the wave. And two, history and experience have said that a clew plate on the main (any kind of main) just doesn't work.

3.) I read this proposal before and agree that it would be a good idea to extend the life of older sails. However, I favor the Hobie Cat comment that emphasizes simplicity.
My vote is "NO"
Thanks for the rule change on the tiller extension. I installed one this year and it has made racing and sailing the Wave more comfortable. I use a Hobie 16 hot stick attached to a pvc pipe attached to the cross-bar with electric tape. If anyone would like to see my design, let me know.
4.) I vote against it...leather open the sail up together or allow No changes....this is a $150 speed rule change.....
Dan Kulkoski, NJ
5.) I don't care to start modifying the wave. I wouldn't hold the class back if this were somehow helpful.
Bob Longo, NY
6.) I am against the addition of a clew plate. KISS. If I wanted to race a boat full of supposed “go-fast” changes; I would return to the F18 Class. Mimi Appel, NY
