Wave; have always had problem with catching jib lines on to the mast cleats what are some of your solutions for this problem? I have tried wrapping stiff cloth (made out one of those bags one gets at conferences from vendors) fastened with velcro that has had some success. What are others doing?

Best is a triangle of shock cord. Tie to front of hiking strap up to mast above cleats and down to the other strap. You may need to add an eye on the mast above the cleat.

Hobie 18s had this as standard equip.
