Hi folks I recently disassembled my Wave for the first time since buying it 3 years ago; and noticed some damage on the mast. I stored it with the mast up and this is presumably from something banging against the mast in the boat yard, but I always pulled the halyard away from the mast with shock cord, in the hope of avoiding this. Has anyone else had this problem?

There's a bit of damage to the lower section of the mast. Does anyone have advice on how to repair this? Help please!!

This is 99.9% cosmetic. The black material is a thick putty to create contour and the luff track attachment grooves. Not structural. Chip away the broken parts and fill in with something like automotive Bondo... color... assemble and sail.

Thanks Matt that's reassuring. Any thoughts about how the damage happened? I'd like to avoid any further damage!

That is likely from flex. Mast up storage over the winter? In high wind the mast may start wobbling. Movement at the joint caused it I think.
