Hello All Wavers:)

I bought a used Hobie Wave in May. It's my first cat. I've bought it with jib kit but after month I must buy new sails and I buy a bigger jib (luff 375 cm, so it's 2,5 square meter).
I usually sail with my wife. When we are sailing with jib cat has more accerelare than without jib! Two weeks ago we sailed 16 knots when wind was arround 12-17 knots.
It's difficult to sail with Jib when it's blowing more than 14 knots without trappeze because of diving. When my wife is on trap there is no more problem with diving - but she must go back (betwen seapads).

Great looking Wave! It'a all about mast rake and seating position in the big air. Rake it all the way back block to block on the main and put your butt above the rear crossbar. Out in 20-35's solo all the time always with one of the jib's and never pitchpoled. I do use the traveler a lot when it's over 20. Much more control and exponentially faster/flatter. The Wave comes to life in anything over 15 and is a hoot at 20-25's. Total pig in anything under 15. Also, the design (mast is way too far forward) leaves a bit to be desired. If I could afford to get the Topaz 14 I'd do it in a heartbeat. Makes the Wave obsolete but for the Wave's ease of setup. The Topaz 14 extreme will eat the Wave and barf it out like a 3 day old hairball! Bwahahahaha :twisted:

There were no hobie 17 or 18 when I bought wave. Some h16 were but in poor condition only...

16 knots is a great speed for the wave. I don't have jib and my max recorded speed was 13 knots in seawater with two adults plus camping gear onboard. But I am more to cruising than racing. Wave is a great boat for multi day cruising.

You are sailing in Slovenia? Where? I was in Koper and Izola but without Wave, tomorrow I'm going to Grado and maybe Trieste for week and hope to get some fun on my wave!
13 knots without jib is also cool!

I sail all over the east Adriatic coast (Slovenia and Croatia). I cartop my wave to the spot and then exploring the islands, visiting remote places and so on. If you need a spot to put your boat in water I can adivce some not far from Triest.

Thanks! White sails with black mast looks preety good for me also.
They were actualyy also cheap, I buy them in Polish sailmaker for 670$ for main + jib.
