I picked up my new (to me) Wave five days ago and, with the Memorial Day holiday, have had it out at least twice a day. Wind has been a steady 8 to 10 knots with some brief periods of 15 or so. Chop has been minimal.

I'm new to cat sailing, so I couldn't have asked for better shakedown conditions.

I have many questions, but will try to keep posts focused. For starters, where are the best locations for telltales and wind indicators on my Wave, and what am I watching for them to do?

My Sunfish has no stays or shrouds and the windward sail telltale doesn't tell much. I'm betting the Wave's twisted sail presents its own challenge.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Best,
Kevin

Welcome to the fun!!!

Telltale locations are individual choice, but I have one in the upper panel about 25% back from the leading edge and one in the next third of the distance down; top, middle, and bottom. I also have two on the upper leach to see if the sail is over sheeted. The twist issues can be limited by installing a traveler. I also added a tiller extention to allow better boat balence in light wind. None of this is required, but really makes the boat adjustable and sail better.
