What is the best method to remove the glue residue used to mount Hobie seat pads? I think I used contact cement. It was a long time ago. Most of it came off but there is still a little left.

Is there a replacement alternative to the stock Hobie replacement pads? Something homemade would be fine. Whether a stock Hobie Wave pad or an alternative, what did you use for glue?

A small paint scraper works well at a shallow angle to remove the glue. Also, course grit sandpaper works too! I have seen folks using the SUP foam padding cut to fit. I went ahead and replaced mine with the Hobie product. Whatever you chose, get the sticky back type and also use contact cement to solidify the front and rear sections so they don't come up in use/trailering. Have fun!

Contact cement works well for me if I follow every single letter of instructions.

I just bought new Hobie Wave pads and they come with 3M adhesive already on the bottom. I assume no contact cement if it has 3M adhesive already on the pad?

Because of windage while trailering, I always add some contact cement to the front parts of the pads. The rest should be fine with the backing removed.

Re: Goo Gone, any concerns of it affecting the hull material? From what I recall goo gone says to be careful on certain plastics :?:

Hulls themselves will be fine. Glue, that seals inspections ports, will be dissolved, but it is good idea to reseal them with something like 3M 4200 anyway.

I used Goo Gone on my hulls, no only did it do a great job of removing the old adhesive, it cleaned up rusty waterline stains really well with a Magic Eraser.
