What is the advantage or the wire section on the top of the mainsail halyard? I lost 4 out of 5 this season |

No stretch. If the head comes down under sail loads it can pull out of the luff track. I sailed Waves at the BItter End a bunch and they just used line as a halyard. We would add a trucker's hitch to get halyard tension and that worked pretty well. Just adds compression load on the mast. |

Thanks I have 5 in my sailing school and think that will work a little easier to get rid of the wire. probably stay with the hook because of the clew hook for the mainsheet |
