i bought a 96 hobie wave this year and mine was missing the 5" hatch cover to, is no really expensive and i would recommend to you to buy those ones that have a little bag inside so you can put your celphone there and is not gonna get wet. (dont go sailing with out it, if you are in troubles i can help you alot).
