The IFA and Hobie are very interested in having a successful tournament series next year and wanted to get things started right away. So the first event they held was the day after the Titusville IFA Redfish Tour. This would give them to solicit help from local Kayak Tournament experts like Mike Kogan and figure out the format for next years event. This event was a Catch Photo and Release event that consisted of 4 divisions including Redfish, Trout, Flounder, and a Slam of all three. The slam could also be a combo of two if no one caught all three. Boundaries were wherever you can go and get back for the 3:00 pm deadline on the measure in at Titusville. Chappy and myself decided to fish the home waters in Jacksonville. And the 150 mil trek paid off. We had less time to fish, but enough time to catch the right fish for Chappy. He photographed a 24" Redfish, a 22" Trout and won first place in three divisions. No one caught a flounder which was our whole reason to drive to Jacksonville. The IFA took note of the positives of this event which were many, and the negatives which were few. I would guess that next years series will be just Redfish.
Congrats to Chappy on his outstanding win.
Great job Chappy aka Upthecreek aka John Chapman.
