New to the forum - great community! New to kayak fishin' with my pro angler. I'm trolling for trout. As the weather warms I'm thinking about adding a downrigger to get down deeper for trout, kokanee and mackinaw here in nothern CA.
Would like to here for any who might have tried this or any thoughts any may have on a downrigger on a kayak.
Thanks in advance!

Hey troutbum, thanks for the reply and the welcome!
Nice article, great info, just what I was looking for.

I like the Scotty Lake Troller DR. Lightweight, simple and inexpensive. A plus that it can be mounted on my scotty rod holder mounts.
Also thought that was a good idea to use 80# braid to replace the ss cable for safety and drag/resistance.

Great info exchange!
Anyone else use their yaks as stealth trollers?

Hello from Stockton, Ca.

I use a Connon Downrigger mounted on a custom Scotty mount, its a great set up and is deadly for trout.
I will post pictures once I figure it out.

Chip.

FF,

I wish Almanor was my local lake!

That's Jenkinson Lake in Pollock Pines off of Hwy 50.
