I just purchased a Revo. Trying to do the warranty registration now. The hull serial number is hardly etched and only some letters and numbers are legible. I did the pencil trick with white paper and it comes back as hieroglyphics. Some of the numbers and letters I can get the rest is tough to see.

I called the dealer, the dealer tells me he gets that all the time, he tells me he does not keep records, tells me to dial 1800-Hobie-49 and talk to the factory and get as close as I can with the number. Call the 1800 number, number asks for my zip, I go right back to the same dealer who has no clue and no record.....

All I want to do is register my boat for the warranty. Can anyone here help me?

My 2010 Outback has a paper bar code label affixed to the hull near the engraved serial number.
The label also contains the serial number and date code details......see if you hull has the same label.

Ok, called back the dealer back and let him know my frustrations. He takes my number and says he will call me back. 5 minutes later he comes back with a hull number. I ask where he got it from, he says he called the 1-800-hobie-49 number. 5 times I called that number and could not get by the prompts after asking for zip code..it went back to him.

I'm either an idiot or I am not getting total truth. It's just a serial number.. :?

Anyways I have the number, that's all that matters.

It would have been nice if it had that. I bought this kayak already unwrapped. There was no sticker. I even checked the owners pack for some type of sticker inside the packet for quick reference, that would have been nice to have.

Here is a number I just found from Google. 1-760-758-9100 That had much better results with more options.

Let's hope my dealer is there to go to bat for me if I really do need help. :?:

It is my understanding that your dealer (or anybody's dealer) should always be the first point of contact. They are set up to handle most any question or situation.

Picture it like an automobile. If something comes up, do you contact the dealer first or do you go directly to the manufacturer?

Hobie kayak warranty forms have a clear area for the hull # and dealers typically fill these in at the point of sale, so the customer doesn't have to. Thats who it works down under usually, anyway.

Yes... dealers are the point of contact. The factory would not be able to provide a serial number for a consumer... Our records are only as sales to the dealer. We are trying to get the numbers more clearly stamped / etched on the hulls. The sticker is just a partial number.
