As expected, the unstable weather put the normally plentiful and aggressive Dana Point halibut off the bite. A couple of skilled kayak anglers still managed to dredge up flatfish. Jimmy "Kiyo" Sato's 8-lb., 14-oz. halibut was good enough for big fish division honors. Sato's victory earned him a fully outfitted Hobie Adventure Fish kayak complete with a custom internal KayaTank bait tank from Angler's Yak Shack. The fish ate a live smelt Sato brought south with him from Long Beach.

Has anyone used this bait tank?

belive it or not kiyo sold the adventure to arron, i tried his turbo fins the other week and boy u sure can get up some speed with them but they have way more resistance as well. i didn't really check out the bait tank but we talked about it and it does have a thru hull pump in it.

The kaya tank works great! Very easy to get at your bait (hatch between your legs). It comes with a timer that pumps water in every 20 or so seconds. Have not had a bait die on me yet. It is made of a plastic pool like matereial that forms to a round shape inside the kayak. Bait just swims in circles no corners to bump into. So if you want a great bait tank get the kaya tank!

I love my hobie adventure with the turbo fins. I can pedal right by all padel type kayaks especially going right into the wind.

Kiyo you are the man, thanks for selling me the great kayak.
Kiyo is sponsored by Malibu Kayaks thats why he didnt keep it.

Take it easy!

Aaron
