When I share my love of fly fishing out of a Hobie with those I meet, I often receive a look of surprise. However, no one is ever thinks twice when hearing of a fly fisherman wading in coastal waters. It got me thinking and so I recently wrote an article published below at link. http://us2.campaign-archive1.com/?u=1255c39b48d8b52cfdead06ce&id=6bf75a7184&e=5b41421ad6 Tight Lines, Aaron Rubel Hobie Fishing Team & Fairhope Boat Company Pro Staff Mobile Bay Area |

Good article! I used to fly fish from my canoe, but was always worried I would smack my other paddler . I just picked up my new revo, and plan on some pike and bass fishing this year on my own. I am fortunate to have the Orvis offices near by! You don't have to throw far if you can sneak up close. |

I just strip the line into my lap, or on still water, over the side onto the water surface. The Revolution is narrow enough to allow you to do that. The only downside to fly fishing from any of the standard Hobie kayaks is the seat angle. It places you in a slightly reclining position which is not the best position for casting a fly rod from a sitting position. |

Thanks ADKFUN. Tom, good idea regarding stripping line onto water if there is no current / tide. Tight lines, Aaron |
