Post subject:  fishing lic required?

hey folks!

im sure this varies from state to state, but, in FL, you dont need a fishing lic to fish in salt water from shore/docks, etc, but you do if your fishing from a boat. I suppose Id need to get one then to fish from a Yak? anyone know if thats the case?
Thanks
Dan

I would say yes you need to, they are only 15 bucks, I got a 5 year for 60 bucks I think, should have gotten a lifetime for $350 and been done with it.

I know I grew up fishing in a small dingy behind the house and they always stopped to see my licenses, however I was like 10 so I was to young but if I was of age I would of needed one.

What part of FL are you in?

Post subject:  Yes.. You NEED a fishing license!!

In the state of Florida.. the only time you do not need a saltwater fishing license is when you are fishing off a pier or beach. You must have one to fish off any kind of boat.. which includes a canoe and kayak. Also.. if you happen to pass through some brackish-fresh water and fish, you will need freshwater license along with it, unless you wouldn't mind getting a citation. It's also cheaper if you buy them both at the same time. :D

You also need a license if you fish from a belly boat or any device used to float in the water. You need a fishing license to fish if you are transported by watercraft to the location you are fishing from, such as an island, sand bar, etc. Best advice get a fishing license- support the resource.
