I have had all kinds of problems with my live bait and bait tank for 2 years, just got really sick of the aggravations. Water pump noise, batteries, chargers, switches, corroded wires and connections, dead batteries, dying and dead bait every the summer when the water temp hits 80F in June. I know that many fishermen do not consider this stuff as problems, but simply a minor inconvenience and just live with it.
A fishing buddy in Alabama suggested I look into a portable O2 system like what he uses so I did. This eliminated all the problems I have described above. The bait tank is uses as a closed system and water is exchanged 2 times daily, that’s it. The big deal is being able to keep a lot of live bait healthy all day, no red-nose. Live bait quality is exceptional because of the excellent water quality.
We are using this portable bait oxygen rig now – Mdl OE-D $129.75 with small disposable oxygen tanks and adjustable brass oxygen regulator. This is impressive!
