Well, first king for me anyway.
Headed out late yesterday morning since I was going solo. Beach was fairly empty, no other kayakers challenging the wind and waves. The cold breeze was coming out of the NW strong and it helped to push me out to 275' pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the current was ripping so bad jigging was impossible, even with 7oz jigs. The waves weren't big, but they were the little 2-3ft hull slappers that remind you that you cannot stay dry in a kayak offshore.

Came back into 150' with a live goggle-eye in tow and intent on jigging a bit. After drifting a bit my livebait rig starts screaming and I try to keep calm and NOT lock up the drag like I did 2 weeks ago (when I lost a sail) and after a nice little fight came up with a 37" Kingfish :D

Water looks nice there. Nice king. Those face masks are versatile. They help keep you warm when it is cold out. They keep your face somewhat protected from the wind. They keep your face out of the sun without that sunscreen film and constant reapplication. Also, if you get bright colored ones it makes it a little easier for boaters to see you.

heh I always get asked the same thing, but its purely for protection against the sun. My dad laughs at me and calls me "the fish ninja" but his side of the family has a history of skin cancer, so I am just taking precautions.

bonus: the face buff adds a little mosquito protection for your face and neck if you are launching at dawn in an area with hungry insects.

I agree, nice king. I assume in Fla. when you caught it? What was the temp outside?

Going to lower keys on Friday. That mask looks likk a great idea for the resons you mentioned. Where can you get hose masks?

Thanks! It wasn't that cold (mid 70's) and it was off of Dania Beach (which is just below Ft Lauderdale) in FL. You can find these at Bass Pro, but I am not sure what the official clothing category is. Here is an example:
