I tend to overdue...so, if a little is good, a lot should be better. I sprayed on 3 coats until I emptied an almost full bottle. I also waterproofed a patch of my yard with overspray. If I were to do it again, I would take my time and lightly spray the coats checking for elasticity between applications, using about half of what I used.

Your probably right... Just picked up a 7' Lews bait casting rod last night. Normally I cast with 6'5" rods. :D

I won an Emrod as a raffle prize a few years back. Kept it as a novelty. Just couldn't convince myself to use it. My top water rod is an ABU Garcia Ike Series spinning rod that is 7'6". I have a Shimao Sedona 3000 series reel on it. Works great for top water. I normally use 7 foot rods for saltwater fishing.

I just gave my net a first coat of Flex Seal.....it seems to have done a good job. I'll toss in a few rigs tomorrow and see if it has done the trick...hopefully a quick fix for now, but of course the real test will be out on the water.

Hey....the single application of Flex Seal seems to have done a great job......the netting is still pliable, yet sealed nicely. Hooks no longer penetrate, at least when I try it. Let's see how it works with a fish thrashing around in it.

John - I definitely want to hear about how it fishes.

I have a float on the EGO and it does the trick as far as keeping it from sinking and the rubber net is pretty much perfect. I netted five 2.5-3.5 fish today, all with crainkbaits and did not have a single major tie up. That just means more time fishing, less time unhooking and drifting away from the hot spots.

The EGO is a good net, but I am not sure it is a good kayak net. It is large and heavy and kind of like moving a sledgehammer around. That little Frabil is the size I like, and super light weight. The difference in the nets is pretty clear, but not really as important to me. I large mouth fish, and a BIG fish is 5 pounds. The EGO could handle much larger species, with ease, hence the weight and size. The Frabil, well, not so much, I think it would fold like a cheap suit with much over 6-7 pounds in the basket - then again it might surprise me.

I can confirm that the EGO S1 Medium Clear Rubber Landing Net floats. Submerged and would return to surface. Then continued to float for the 12 hours I tested.

It seems that the S2 expandable handle and where it screws into the actual net base is the issue. I will try some plumbers tape on the threads tomorrow and see if that keeps water from getting in the red handle. Wondering, does the S1 handle float, all by itself? I have not used the S2 handle extended yet, and doubt I ever will, so I might just buy the fixed size handle and call it a day.

I'll test the handle alone and let you know.

One of the best-new-products at iCast 2016 was a new net by Ego called the Kryptek Genesis S1. Clear rubber and it floats. Doesn't seem to be sold anywhere yet.

How would a 16" bag depth do netting a 30" Lingcod?

I never use a net, unless in a boat. Lindy gloves, grab the bigger fish by the tail as they swing by. Works great for Mackerel/Barracuda and anything bigger.

Here in CA, an 18" net is required for anyone taking fish aboard a floating vessel.
