2/19 - Headed out on the North IRL with some clients from Colorado who were looking to catch there first redfish while in Orlando for business. We hit the water around 7am, spoke with shiman-iac at the ramp and then moved out onto the extremely shallow flats in search of schools and tailing reds. Things were slow in the morning although we came across numerous schools but they were being very elusive not allowing for us to get close enough for casts. They were novice kayak fisherman so there was a lot of fundamental teaching to get them up to speed on how to close in on the schools with out spooking the fish. After a few trial and error runs on the schools they started to get a handle on how to remain stealth while getting close enough to make a good presentation. I knew once they understood the fundamentals and started practicing the right techniques it would only be a matter of time till one of them hooked up and Jason was the first one up catching this nice uppers slot red on a 4" gulp shrimp.

The rest of the day the guys spent chasing schools and casting to tails and it was a tough bite. The full moon the night before may have had something to do with it but every now and then they'd trick a fish into eating and Paul was next to hook up!

We fished well into the sunset caught a few more reds and the guys really enjoyed the opportunity to cast to tailing reds and blacks. Was a good day on the water all though the weatherman screwed the wind direction and speed up but that's par for the course.

Paul with another Red.
