Another great day of kayak fishing at Tidelands Park in Coronado, CA.

Image
Another awesome Tidelands sunrise. Mostly clear with some clouds drifitng in. Pretty stiff E/SE wind.
Caught about a half dozen decent sized spotted bass at the south end of some moored boats before the sun came up.

Image
At slack tide the bass bite slowed so I headed out to the bridge pylons. Started catching halibut straightaway. They bit everything I put in the water; yellow head grubs, drop shot and my thumb.

Image
Caught about eight halibut, a few of them were legal, but I had no way to get them in the kayak. After having one latch onto my thumb trying to get in in the boat, three of them snapped my 10lb. test line while I was taking photos.

Image
The spotties were hungry at the pylons as well. Caught a bunch of them in between halibuts.

One of these guys fought back by biting my thumb when I tried to haul him in the boat. With the bigger ones, I just took a couple pictures before they broke the line.

I managed to grab this smaller flattie by the gills for a nice photo with the beautiful San Diego skyline in the background.

Finally, the wind blew my fishing buddy Jan and I off the water, a mini victory at sea by about 1PM. When we came in there was a whole mob of kayakers for an REI demo day. I posed for a couple photos, told a couple fish stories, Jan signed a couple autographs to some admiring future kayakers, there was no free food so packed 'em up and hit the road home.
