Battled a bahzillion power boats and fished Alaska Largest salmon derby in Seward, AK.
8 hours on Saturday = ZERO
12 hours on Sunday = a dozen take downs, 5 cohos landed, 3 kept.
Biggest I managed was 12 pound 30.25 inches. The current leader is 19 pounds so I have some work to do. Derby runs through next Sunday. The fish were further out of the Bay so if I was really serious, I should have taken a water taxi.
I think the best thing about this weekend was knowing I can fish 20 hours over two days of trolling cut plugs for coho on my new Hobie and I can actually walk on Monday! The efficiency of the Mirage drive is amazing. I am no athlete and to be able to fish that long is amazing to me.
