A Cutthroat Trout, this is a CDFW brood lake, CDW take the Cutts that run up the creek to spawn and harvest their eggs and milt to raise fry for planting in the area.
Heenan Lake is only open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in September and October. You have to use a single barbless hook and artificial lures only. Any fish caught have to be released. The first few weekends of September when the lake opens the lake looks like a bowl of Cheerios with all the float tubers on the water!
