Pics will come later.
My Brother and I did a trip from Ohio to Panama Beach late July. He has always been a peer guy. He said usually about 14 hrs on a peer will get you 1 kingfish. We drug our kayaks to the water, and Bam! Kingfish, Kingfish, Macrel, Kingfish, Kingfish, Kingfish, Macrel,Macrel... see where I'm going with this? These guys averaged 25 - 30 lbs!

There were 13 of us, eating Kingfish cooked many different ways for a week. I gave a couple to the neighbors and we still took home 30lbs or so.
Ah but the fight! I was using a stiff 25lb rod, with 30lb test line. They bit on "Gotcha Plugs" and Cigar minnows.
Funny thing though, my brother was in a "Mainstream ( Paddles only ) kayak, and I had the Mirage Drive (and a sail). So I could cast , control my bait, my direction, everything.
* Never try the outback sail without the sidekick attached in the gulf.
The sail can be tricky to fish with, but it makes trolling gobs of fun.
We did bring in a couple of Dark Tip sharks at dusk as well.

Moral to the story: I will NEVER see a stinky, crowded peer again.

yea we love fishing just off that pier from the kayak, sunjammers is about 2 miles from there. Glad you had a good time can't wait to see some pictures! 30lbs kings are good to hear, we have a few king tournaments coming up, winning fish last year was like 15lbs.
