Post subject:  Does the AI daggerboard fit the Outback drive well?

I'm temporarily unable to pedal my Outback because of a knee injury, so I've either got to paddle (let's face it the Outback is not the world's greatest paddle yak) or sail it until my knee is better - 3 months or so, hopefully.

I've got the sail kit, but since I can't pedal (which is what I've always done while tacking) it doesn't point at all well upwind - lots of sideslip, even with the ST Turbo fins vertical. I figure I need a dagger board. I could probably make one up using the drive well plug and some marine ply, but does anyone know if the Adventure Island dagger board fits the Outback drive well? If so that would probably be the easiest way to fix the problem.

Nope, the Adventure and AI have a Daggerboard well also. Somewhere on these forums is a post from someone that mad a daggerboard well out of the Mirage drive plug (like you suggested.

The AI daggerboard fits nicely once you have adapted the drivewell plug to hold it in place. Check p2 of this post:

Locking the fins in the down position also works, though not as effectively:
