Post subject:  New Sail for Outfitter

Hi everybody !

My questions from a beguiner

I just bought Outfitter two months ago. Amazing versatility but now i´d like to know how can i improve it to sail faster?

I wish to be wrong but no bigger sails for kayak are available from hobie, am i correct?

In case i could make my own sail, would i need get ST turbo (bigger fins) to compensate the new bigger sail ?

Perhaps any experienced sailor can help...

Thanks and greetings from Spain !!

Hey Eliseo,
A hearty welcome to the Hobie Forum, and especially to someone from Espana (can't get the accent to work), since my Dad was born in Barcelona. Nope-no newer or larger sails for the Outfitter (great boat, BTW) or the other basic Mirage drive craft as yet-only for the new Adventure Island. However, a number of folks have adapted, or made, larger sails for several Hobie yaks. Especially check out Punchinello's posts, both here and over on KayakFishingStuff.com, for some really creative ideas.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi Apalach !! I was reviewing some post at the forum and I saw your wellcome post. 13 months have past since those posts and i´ve been working on some good ideas to improve sailing on my Outfitter. I leave you a link here so you´ll see the 3.0 version of the upgrades.

The great thing is that system can adapt to every hobie kayak, no holes have been done to the hull to install it. I´m thinking now about installing a jib, larger than the first I did.

Greetings from Benicasim !!
