Curious to know if anyone has tried mounting their Hobie Sidekick and Amas towards the front of the boat rather than the rear. The cross bar will fit just behind the sailmast opening without interfering with the Mirage Drive. Has anyone tried mounting it there rather than behind the seat, and if so, what was your experience. Thanks.

I don't know if it helps, but a British user with a Sport has mounted his sidekick amas at the front, because he found that, if he put them at the back, they got in the way of paddling. But a Sport doesn't have much space to give you choices.

Some discussion about it here:

Thanks, I'll take a look. In the meantime, if anyone else has done it, I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Mounted them to the front. Sailed today. Set them on the level height setting. Nice 7 to 10 MPH winds. Boat sails very well, but I can see this will become addictive and an AI will be next.
