When they will be shipping the sidekicks. Looking forward to using them on the outback while the weather is still hot out here on the North East coast.
Thanks

Post subject:  Sidekick

I picked up my sidekick today for my Outback and test-fitted but I haven't drilled any holes yet. I like to store my wheels onboard while kayaking/sailing so that I have them ready upon returning to shore. Having the wheels stored on top means the bar for the sidekick is going to have to be further back than just behind the seat. Where I test fitted them just behind the aft fishing pole holes will require a small shim to raise the mounting brackets off the kayak a bit so that the side bars that are curved will clear the edge of the gunwhale as they curve downward. I think I'll only need about 4 or 5 millimeters of shim. Then it will be a clear shot to insert the curved side bars into the permanently (or at least long-term) installed center bar. Does anyone know of any problems encountered from installing the sidekick too far back other than that the adjustment at the sidebar joint may be out of reach? I don't think this will be a problem because I have long arms. I don't fish at all so I would have been just as happy seeing a mounting system for the sidekick which utilizes the two empty holes for fishing rods in the rear. The angle of the holes on my 2005 Outback may be different from the new 2006 model, though, which could complicate things.

I can't think of a problem with that.
