| Post subject: | What is the plastic hook sewn into sail for? |
The wife and I have two new revolution 13's. I found a sail kit on craigs list for $100 and I bought new sail kit from my local dealer for 25% off. The new one has a plastic hook sewn into the sail where the rope ties on the sail. What is this hook for? Please forgive my ignorance. I am a novice. |

Probably for tying the sail closed when rolled up. |

That's it. The smaller sailing kit doesn't come with a tie-off already attached to the sail as the AI and TI sails do. You have to add your own, if you want it. |

My older kayak sail does not have this hook, but the new one does. |

The Hobie mainsheets come pre-knotted. You just loop it around the sail and the knot holds it furled -- no tying required. Simple, quick and effective. A lot of users don't know what the mainsheet knots are for. Thinking it's a mistake, they remove it. I use a detachable mainsheet for quicker set-ups and take downs, so I replace it with a "tail" (pictured) to secure the sail.
