Yep I made mine just like that, they work great. If you look closely at the pic of our Oasis earlier in the post you can see it at the base of the sail.

You can see it clearly on our Revo in this pic

And I have the exact same furler on both the jib and the huge furlable spinnaker on my TI.

Have fun.
I know we do, we have an absolute blast on our Hobies, in good weather we are out every weekend.

Oh yea the keel weight I was telling you about earlier, this is a pic of me sitting on the rail of my kayak with one of those keel weights underneath, the boat is completely impossible to tip over.

Very interesting, esp the keel weight demo pic... that will be my project next week... length about 12 inches on the furler? Bob

Just put your sail in and measure the gap between the hull and the bottom of the sail. Make the unit an inch or two shorter

motobob :
One more thing I forgot to mention.
Once you have the furler done what I do when using it is run the furling line back between the mirage pedals and wrap it around the handle of the twist and stow hatch right in front of you, then push the handle down to hold the rope, really simple and it works great. When furling or un-furling you just hold the furling line on one hand and the sail control line in the other and pull back and forth (it's a pretty slick setup).
If you have problems with the furling line tangling and wrapping around the mast below the furler, you can always just add coffee can lids like I did (look at the picture of the TI furlers (yup those are plastic coffee can lids, but hey they work)
