Hey Mike,

I added the sail and ama's to my revo and adventure
a couple of months ago. I fish and sail Mission Bay
all the time. Usually in the Revo. I tend to sail over by
the ski beach area so if you see me say hi.
I went through all kinds of stuff before I got things
rigged the way I wanted. If your looking for cam cleats
look me up before you buy any. Ron is a great guy and
helps me all the time but I found a lot of the hardware
I needed cheaper at sundown marine in El Cajon. They
also have a cam cleat that was around 5 bucks that
was better for my use then the ones Ron at Fastlane
gave.

Here are a few rigging pics:
1. forward block and cam cleat (jamb cleat would also work) on an Oasis:

2. mainsheet rigged on an Adventure showing forward and aft blocks (same concept).

Note: Use caution if using a swivel block at the aft padeye. Any bias in the line will twist the sheet, thereby binding or freezing it and rendering it inoperable! Since you can't reach this location while underway, you won't be able to release your sail. Either use a non-swivel block or remove all the line bias by running it back and forth through the block before connecting it. ALWAYS run your mainsheet back and forth and check for any binding or fouling before embarking!

3. Tip (not shown) Always put a simple knot at the bitter end of your mainsheet after rigging so if you loose it, it won't run completely out of the blocks.

4. Detachable mainsheet with separate "tail" for securing sail. This makes faster and easier sail set-up and take down, especially on the water. You can use a snap hook or carabiner to attach/detach your mainsheet quickly:

You can make a matching quick disconnect "tail" to secure your furled sail:

5. The sail is easy to carry with you in case there is no wind (or too much). Note -- mainsheet is pre-rigged and ready to attach:

A simple loop attached to the forward hatch secures the mast foot when stowed (location would vary slightly by model):

Here's a "boombat" -- an extra sail batten slipped through the foot of the sail with a wire-nut screwed on the end for easy gripping. This prevents the sail from curling around the mast when running downwind and shapes it a little better in light winds. Before furling the sail, it must be removed and can be stored in the hull.

Ever wonder why the sides of the cockpits are scalloped? This is a sailing feature; you can use them to brace your feet on when running under sail power only, sailing in heavier winds or gusty conditions. Ideally you would wedge your downwind foot in a suitable scallop and use your upwind foot to keep the Drive pedals even (ie: fins down in the daggerboard position).

The Adventure shown here has a separate daggerboard so you can ignore the pedals and stick both feet in scallops if necessary. This helps you to hike out in stronger wind.


Of course this is rarely necessary in the Oasis because of its much greater stability under sail, but there if you need them.
