I ordered hatch liners for my TI when I purchased it 3 months ago. They have still not arrived. Do these things exist?

Hatch Liners? More than one?

We call the forward hatch "bucket" a hatch liner. Large white bucket the shape of a bow hatch. There is one per boat.

There is no hatch liner for the TI. We did not want to compromise the hatch seal.

Now... gear buckets are made for the twist and seal hatches. Is that what you ordered? They are shallow with dividers or deep and wide open... they fit the 8" hatches.

Your catalog calls it a hatch liner, not bucket. There are two hatches on my TI, bow and stern. I thought I ordered hatch liners for both. Why would you have a liner for the forward hatch and not the aft? What in the hell has that got to do with seal integrity?

Do you not make one for the aft hatch and do you make one for the forward hatch on the TI?

Why after three months have I not received these liner(s)?

The TI has 4 hull openings. At the bow, just forward of the mast, is a hatch covered with a lid. Hobie does not offer a hatch liner for this opening.

Just in front of the forward seat and just in front of the rear seat, are hatch openings covered by twist and stow lids. There is another opening, also covered by a twist and stow lid, on the aft deck just forward of the rudder. These will accept the Hobie Gear Buckets, with the front two able to accept the deep buckets and the rear one only the shallower bucket.

As to why you haven't gotten them, you should ask your dealer.

What page is this on and or part number did you order? Liners and hatch buckets are shown on page 18 of the parts and accessories catalog now.

We have liners for some models (large forward hatches).

We have gear buckets that fit all 8" Hobie twist and seal hatches.

There is no delay on our end. Orders typically ship same day, so review any open orders with your dealer.

I am sorry but you do not know your TI very well. You are correct there are twist and stow openings forward of both seats. The rear opening forward of the rudder is a hatch similar to the opening in the bow forward of the mast. You stated Hobie does not make a liner for the forward hatch, is that true for the aft hatch as well? There is not 3rd twist and stow opening.

Here is an overhead shot of the Tandem Island. As you can see, there is only one "hatch" per se. The other openings, including the one just forward of the rudder, are twist-and stow hatches.

Are we sure we are talking about the same boat?

The Tandem Island.. "TI" is as shown above. One large hatch Forward, 3 Twist and Seal hatches. From day one... always the same.

I will reorder the correct buckets for the twist and seal hatches. It would be nice if you had a liner for the forward hatch though.

On the island series kayaks, the bow pushes down underwater in some conditions. A tight seal on that hatch is required. Hatch liners add a possible compromise to the seal, so in their current design... we don't comfortable doing that. If we can overcome the seal issue, we may re-consider.

Matt, I know this is not the thread for this but I thought you should see this rubber seal I have been using to fix the issue.
It is automotive boot or as you guys call it "trunk" seal.
There are two lips one at the top angled out and a lip at the base designed to seal against the car body but here it is protruding enough that it acts as a splash diverter to deflect water back down away from the upper seal.

Nice! This is really the same type of material we use, but a different version. Looks way more adaptable to variety of fits and looks to repel water better.
