Figured I would ask this in the AI forum since the H14 forum is almost dead...what is access like to bird island basin? Beach access for trailers? Ramp launch? Camping?

It looks like it would be a great place to sail my hobie 14...I would be coming down from Austin, nearby camping would be ideal.

I figure surely the kayak sailors go there...thanks for the help!

Do a google map searc for <PINS, Bird Island Basin>... Should give you directions right to the park. Good Luck

If that does not work then use Padre Island National Seashore, Bird Island Basin...

It has a great paved ramp, camping and a place for trailers all right there in the area. It's a very popular spot for wind surfers and kite boarders. As the previous reply stated, check it out on Google or any other map program. Since it is in a National Sea Shore Area you would want to bring any supplies with you as services are about 10 to 15 miles away. I'll be heading that way in March to take some pictures of the thousands of birds that nest in that area as the rookeries will be in full action. Enjoy your trip to the Coastal Bend there's a lot going on out here.
