Does anyone have experience sailing an AI in Nantucket Sound? Often 15 kt winds, 2-3 ft chop in strong tidal currents. Is then AI a good match? I don’t see any where I am. Thanks!

It'll do it just fine. But remember it is a kayak, albeit a sailing kayak, so it's going to be wet.

Keep in mind you have a furling mainsail so you have a lot of options when the wind gets up. You will likely sail faster in high winds with a bit of sail furled.

I'd try Buzzards Bay on for size first.

Nantucket Sound is serious ocean sailing. It has fog, it has current, Some of those currents in certain areas can take control of any boat. You can easily get out of sight of land. Waves can be big.

If you stay close to the shoreline, which it beautiful, you shouldn't have any problems if you've properly prepared. A marine radio, life jacket, and other off-shore equipment is essential.

I've seen AIs in Narragansett Bay quite a bit, including going out to the islands that Narragansett Bay is full of. I've seen them less frequently in Buzzard's Bay.
