I have a Hobie Outback with sail.
It is configured to work well in light winds.
Storage of sail is difficult. The dealer recommended using the side bungy cord (demonstrated on a prevoius posting). I find it is best to rig it before leaving shore.
If the wind picks up or there are gusts it can become hard to manage especially off-shore.

I modified the sail (With the help of a sail-maker) and shunk the mast.
The sail and pole now fit into the front hatch area, can be taken out and rigged on the water and is much more stable to sail.
Using the sail in conjunction with the ST Turbo's fins gives further stablity and allows for sailing to 45 degrees to wind without destablising.

If you paddle on flat water with light winds this modification is not for you. Best to rig sail before you go out and furl it. (previous posting shows great furling mechanism).

G'Day Greg and welcome.
How has the sail been modified? It sounds like you made it smaller in area but then it works well in light wind -or is it just the mast that you shrunk?
