Post subject:  Inexpensive Outriggers for my Hobie Mirage (or other kayaks)

I was looking for an inexpensive and unobtrusive set of outriggers that I could take with me on either my pedal expeditions or electric powered expeditions in the event I encountered the right wind conditions and decided to switch to "wind power" (aka "sailing"). Here is the "hard" system: You need one large pool noodle (available at toy's R us, K-mart, etc). I cut it in half, run a bungee cord through the hollow middle and hooked the two bungee ends together. If you choose the right length bungee cord, it will give you the correct half moon shape that would give you stability and bouyancy in the water. Ahhh, I forgot to mention that you attach each one of this half moon shaped noodles to the paddle ends with another bungee cord in an X fashion. You can keep the paddle with your noodle outriggers in place with your feet or another bungee cord.
