If you want to bring your sail along for use later, here's a way to securely transport your masted sail ready for quick deployment. Essentially you'll be creating a couple of loops to sling the sail in.
For the front loop, simply make a lasso out of rope or bungee someplace forward of the cockpit. Here, it's anchored to the hatch bungee line. On shorter boats, you might try the bow pad-eye.
Next, pick your non-paddle side to replace the paddle strap fittings (starboard side mount will keep your rudder control clear).

Using your "screw in fitting tool" (see various parts below), unscrew your bungee base (shockcord end) and cleat. You can set the old bungee base aside for future use (when the other one wears out) or cut the bungee off and re-use it.
You will be replacing the bungee with a longer single bungee terminating with a slick new (adjustable) bungee hook that snaps and locks (without a retainer) into a screw-in pad-eye. Here's a pic showing the assembly path(looks like a Chinese puzzle). See above for finished appearance.
Likewise, replace the old bungee cleat with a new screw-in pad-eye if you want the side carry style.

By using a longer bungee cord, you can move the hook to different locations once you see how your sail rides best on the boat, then trim to suit later.
When not hauling your sail, you'll find your new pad-eye handy as an attachment point for tethering gear.
