We're trying to work a trade, our '01 Vector for a '95 Miracle 20. 
I'm not letting up with you guys, I need your help and thank you for resolving the (my  ) sail issue.
Sail #575 seems a bit low for a 1995. I recall a '93 with a 700's#. What does a later than '95 model 20 have that I'm going to absolutely need to be competitive? This one has the jib halyard and fairlead upgrade and rotator on the bottom of mast. |

My 98 Hobie 20 sail number was 689. My sailing buddy and I both have 2000 hobie 20's with sail numbers of 798 and 803 |

My '95 boat has sail #486. You'll see it waaayy out in front of you when you get your 20 are come to DM! |

ABILITY is what you need the most. A good H20 sailor can make an old boat go fast. A bad H20 sailor can take any H20 (even a new one) and be real slow. Time on the boat on the water will always make you better and the boat faster. Any upgrades should only make you job as skipper or crew more efficient, gving you more time to drive/sail the boat. |

We sold the Vector outright last night night. and  It's back to the 18 Forum for now.

Thank you for "grounding" me. Looking back to the 80's, we were competitive with a three year old 16 with only jib control upgrades (stock main system & plastic rudders). My brother-in-law told me back then (very smugly) "one-design racing is all about tactics!". I guess we'll focus on quality 18 time for the rest of this year and search for a 20 this winter. Thanks to everyone. |

Dan, I found that to be true by knowing the sail number and looking at past Division 3 results, but as Rob said and the results bore out, skipper and crew do have an effect on finishing.
