Just caught a Hobie 20 on Ebay, sounds like the guy picked it up at auction. anybody know the boat or the story? Tough to tell the condition from the pics, but looks decent for a '97 for anyone that my be in CA.

I saw that one too. Looks like it's been neglected for quite a while. The tramp and comptip look to be sun fried, as do the control lines. The mainsail looks like it's got a fair amount of mold on it. My guess is that the boat box was not waterproof judging by the puddle of water coming from the sail bags. I wouln't be surprised if both sails are covered in mold.

But, if the platform and the aluminum parts are good, it could be a decent project boat for the right price.

Looks like there are a few takers: $900 bucks with only a few hours left! I see what you mean about the sailbox leaking, thats a shame. Its tough to see the condition of the hull bottoms, but the boards and rudders look decent - thats usually a good sign. Did you notice the bolt cutters sitting on the Port hull? Looks like the guy selling it just snipped a chain and snapped some pics. Lets hope she see's the water someday soon.

She's either getting parted or joining Div 3 fleet 259. If she can live again she will...

Fleet 259 joint venture... to repair or part out. It looks like she'll make a full recovery though, needing a front crossbar and little soft spot repair. Lines... plastic... etc. Looks promising though.

This boat is now with Craig in Watsonville getting the soft spot repaired. She will soon be racing in Division 3. Another Phoenix rises.

With any luck she'll be making an appearance at Huntington lake next weekend. Test sail tomorrow and some downhaul and barberhauler work. I haven't seen anyone sail with the stock barberhaulers... what is the best "alternate" setup?
