Post subject:  Jib line set up problems

I am having problems setting up the ropes to my jib. I have the jib sail up and fastened but I can't figure out how the lines go to the four way jib system. I wondering if anyone has a few detailed pictures of their set up that i can look at. The assembly manual isn't quite helping me out. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have been sailing 14's and 17's and this is my first 20, hence my first jib. I really appreciate any help.

A photo of your system might help... the stock setup is just like the assembly manual and pretty simple... but I rarely see a 20 setup in a stock way. The jib sheet in a stock configuration is almost the same as 16 or 17, you just have the barber hauler blocks floating between the blocks on the clew and the blocks on the tramp.

evidently I am also having problems with posting pictures of my boat. I will get them up as soon as I can and thank you for the help. hobieandy I am in MN. Maybe I will see you out on Storm Lake someday. Your set up is similar but still different. I will get the pics up as soon as I get this problem figured out. Thank you both for the help. I know this will be simple once I see it. The guy I bought this boat from raced it in White Bear Lake and had some good results. Get the pics up as soon as I can.

It looks like hobieandy is mostly stock, I've got just about the same setup on mine. A lot of people change up the cleat on the end of the crossbar where that red line is going.

Thanks for the help guys. i was able to set up my Jib and get all the lines set up correctly. The picture and advice helped a lot. What was throwing me was that the lines were not set up correctly when I got it. One side was different from the other. Now I just need some wind to get her out on the lake.

What dimension and length sheets are you guys using there? Down haul (blue), Jib (white) and barber (red) lines? Great pics… see the positive mast rotator lines there as well.

Per the H20 Assembly Manual,

Jib Sheet - 5/16 x 36'

Barber Hauler - 1/4 x 18'

Downhaul - 1/4 x 32' - I don't think mine was quite this long, but start there and trim it down as you see fit. Remember, you want your crew to be able to use it from the trapeze on both sides of the boat.

If you don't have the assembly manual, shoot me a private email and I'll zing one back at you.

Got the manual.... but.... from every pic i've seen, the hauler looks like 10'-12' per side max (separate) , the jib sheet 20' to maybe 25'. Many people have said they've found a better way than stock to rig the jib. maybe for easier solo sailing? i'll go on the long side for sure, just looking out for less extra spaghetti on the tramp ;) The rotation setup on these pics are looking very nice too!

I don't Know without measuring but I know the last time I got a new jib sheet my daughter(crew) had me cut off about 10 feet after our first sail.
