so we removed our roller furler and put on the old forestay and there was a lot of windward helm. i noticed i could sheet the main a lot tighter too, so i think the mast was just tilting aft too much, which implies the old forestay has stretched? is this possible? i believe its the original (97) so i has some miles on it. i tightened up the adjuster at the tang but there is still some windward helm. any suggestions? i thought cable didn't stretch.

You changed wires right? So the lengths are different? That is certainly possible. If you want the same rake, simply take the furler forestay assembly and match the adjustments to get the lengths the same... if possible.

Mast rake: The boat performs better with a lot of rake, so if you are still able to fully sheet the main, it isn't too far aft. You can adjust the rudder rake to correct for the weather helm issue.
