You only need a support tube (strut) on the rotator bar if you’re running a positive mast rotation system that pulls forward on the rotator. The support strut keeps the rotator bar from lifting up. As Matt pointed out, the strut is not a Hobie part, typically they’re just a piece of PVC pipe cut to length and tied or screwed to the mast and rotation arm. Unless you’re racing, I wouldn’t bother with installing a positive mast rotation system or the support strut, it’s more complication and “stuff” on an already complex boat.
