As a starting point, how far back from the front crossbar and how far inboard from the tramp track do you place the jib block? I assume the blocks are moved out and back as the breeze builds, but where do you start from in 8-10 kts?

Thanks,
Mike

My recollection is we placed the jib blocks about midway between the hiking strap and the hull, maybe a little closer to the hiking strap for the inboard/outboard positioning. That would be the starting point.

Fore/aft we were basically right up to the grommet in the tramp for the mast rotation control line. But the fore/aft is set by the break of the jib telltails. The upper and lower sets of telltails should break (luff) at the same time or the uppers should break just before the lowers. So that is really what dictates the placement of the leads.

We almost never moved the jib leads fore and aft, mainly because they are not that easy to adjust. The inboard and outboard we would move the blocks outboard when it got windy.

There is a good setup instruction by Bob Curry in the manual.

Jib Leads: Set the fore-aft setting where the jib breaks evenly. Set the in-out adjustment at the hiking strap for light air to all
the way out for heavy air.
