I have a 1992 Hobie Miracle. Barber Hauler line for jib runs thru the front crosbar. Newer models have that line run on the outside of a crossbar. My question is ,if I want to do that to my boat do I have to buy new crossbar in order to install Barber Hauler cleats on the outside of the crossbar since my old one has a openings at the both ends from the old system? I am trying to bring my rigging up to the date. Arnis

arnis,

Is it broke? :)

Replacing lines thru crossbar can be as simple as tying a new line to the old unless...they go through a block, then you'll have to be more creative, like stitching the old line to a new line. A knot more than likely will not pull through a turning block.

Alternative to replacing your crossbar is abandoning the existing system in place, and running your line all external and mounting swivel cleats at the, aft-side, ends of the crossbar.
