just thought i would share an awesome night sailing experience with you guys...
a friend of mine and i went out on sunday am on his supercat 19 (still waiting to replace the broken boom on my 20). we left the beach at about 3 am. the whole thing was spectacular. the moon was out so after our eyes adjusted we could see perfectly fine. i would say the wind was blowing about 10-12 and the water was ultra smooth, so we were just skating along without any resistance. we were sailing downwind, making waves. i was out in the trap and he was driving. he fell off a bit to depower and i began to swing forward a bit, thinking i was going to go for a spin around the boat. i think my weight sent the boat into a gype and the cat slowly turned away from the wind and then came over on top of us. the whole thing happened in the dark and in what felt like slow-motion. it was completely surreal. it was the most enjoyable capsize i have ever experienced. we got the boat righted ok and headed back. best sail in a long time!
